Woodworking Camp
June 15 to 19, 2009
Ages 11-14 - 9:30am – 11:30am
Ages 7-10 - 12:30pm – 2:30pm

Build a birdhouse, or a stool, or another fun project out of wood. Learn about how to use tools and the basics of woodworking, from experienced Locust Grove woodworkers. You’ll learn about types of wood, historic and modern woodworking tools, and complete a project to take home. $75 per camper.

Summer Archaeology Camp – NEW!
June 25 and 26, 2009, 9:00am – 12:00pm
Ages 9-11

Come learn history Indiana Jones style! During this 2-day camp, kids will participate in an actual archaeological dig on the grounds of Locust Grove. Help trained archaeologists discover what artifacts are hidden beneath the surface. $40 per camper.

Pioneer Camp
July 6 to 10, 2009, 9:00am – 12:00pm
Ages 7-10

Explore the past through crafts, hands-on activities, and demonstrations. Experience 18th Century living first-hand, using the house, gardens, grounds, and woods at Locust Grove. Try some of the chores and games of early Kentucky children. New projects every year, so if you’ve come in the past, come back this year! $80 per camper.

Painted Canvas Cloth Workshop – NEW!
July 29 and 30, 2009, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Ages 7-10

Learn how to make your own painted canvas! Kids will make and decorate a 6 ½” X 8” painted canvas, using historical patterns or original designs. This two-day workshop will be taught by Virginia Tucker, owner of The Virginia Floor Cloth Company in Louisville. Held in 2 sessions so that the paint can dry! $45 per camper. All materials will be provided.
