Colonial Music Workshop at Locust Grove
on instruments from the American Colonial & Revolutionary Era
Monday June 24th- Friday June 28th
A one week workshop for gifted string players interested in acquiring the skills to play period violin, viola, cello and bass, led by William Bauer with help from The Locust Grove Chamber Musicians. Daily masterclasses and chamber ensembles in a unique half-day format running from Monday - Friday, June 24th - 28th 10am-1pm. Final performance convocation at 2pm Friday June 28.
Tuition $150 plus a $20 materials fee
Ages 13-18
*Students will be admitted on their teacher’s recommendation - no audition is required
About the instructor: William Bauer has been a period instrument specialist since 1983. Since 2002 he has led Baroque Academies for High School students in St Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Dallas and Gunanajuato, Mexico. He specializes in early American chamber music from the Colonial and Revolutionary War periods.

Travel back in time more than 200 years to discover nature and people through Locust Grove. Track native wild animals, experience Native American hunting and survival techniques, and discover life in the 18th century for the first European settlers and Native Americans. This hands-on nature camp will take kids where they’ve never been before!

Make your own book! A two-day workshop in the art and technique of making books, papermaking, printing, binding, stamping, paper marbling, and more. Create journals, albums, and other projects to take home, and learn about the methods and supplies you’ll need to keep on making your own books. All materials included; wear clothes you can get messy in, and bring a bag lunch.
