Grove volunteers are essential to the daily operation
of the site.
If you would like to be part of this vital
volunteer corps join us for the next two-hour orientation
session (held quarterly). A review of the daily management
and mission of Locust Grove will be presented with a

planting and maintaining the flower beds, herb garden
and quadrant gardens. Volunteers must initially meet
with the staff gardener but can arrange to work at their
convenience.

The After Noon Lecture is held the first Wednesday of
each month. Volunteers work from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00
p.m. preparing the dessert buffet and cleaning up after
the lecture. Time spent cooking at home is included
in volunteer service.
Summer Camps
Volunteers assist camp leaders in craft activities for
children 6-12 years. Camps are held in June and July
of each summer.
Special Events
Volunteers assist in taking admissions, baking, concessions,
set up and clean up for weekend events. Events are held
once a month April thru July and September thru December.
Long
Range Volunteer Opportunities: Training for these
positions requires a one to two year commitment.
Visitors' Center
Volunteers assist in taking admissions, operating the
museum store, answering the phone and greeting visitors.
Docent
Volunteers complete a 6-to 8-week training course (one
day a week) in order to qualify to conduct tours at
Locust Grove. Many docents train in crafts of the period
and give costumed demonstrations. Prior experience or

is welcomed.
